Thorough preparation of orchestral extracts is essential for a successful EUYO audition - but don't just think this simply means learning the notes! You should listen to recordings of the pieces where possible and/or take a look at the full score so that you are aware of the context of your extract and can play accordingly. The orchestral extracts to be prepared for the current EUYO auditions are below - click on each extract to download a copy.
For each instrument, the first movement of Shostakovich's Symphony No 4 has been added to reflect the summer 2014 repertoire. FInal round candidates should prepare this movement and expect to be asked by the panel to play any part of this movement in their audition.
This music is in copyiright and the Shostakovich extracts are provided by kind permission of Boosey and Hawkes, London; therefore these are password protected and each candidate will be sent their own password to download the Shostakovich extract for their instrument. This will be done by the local organiser in each country nearer the time of each audition. Alternatively, as soon as you have submitted your application form you can email either the local organiser in your country or Benjamin Noakes in the EUYO office and your password will be emailed to you, together with further information about the extracts.
If you have any questions please email Benjamin Noakes, EUYO Projects & Orchestra Manager.
