Supporters of the EUYO

The European Union Youth Orchestra relies increasingly on the generosity of the general public, private sector sponsors and patrons. Passionate individuals; dynamic and ambitious companies; trusts and foundations who share in the vision of the EUYO all help to secure the Orchestra's position as an exceptional opportunity for the next generation of Europe's most talented young musicians.

The EUYO would like to acknowledge the generous support we receive from our residency hosts, corporate partners, trusts, foundations and individuals, without which we would be unable to continue our important work.

Residency Hosts

Summer Tour Residency 2009
Schloss Grafenegg, Haitzendorf

The EUYO is delighted to announce that the major rehearsal residency of the Summer 2009 Tour will take place at the beautiful Schloss Grafenegg, launching a major new partnership between Grafenegg and the EUYO. Grafenegg is located in Haitzendorf, 40 minutes north-west of Vienna near the heritage town of Krems an der Donau in the Wachau Valley. Spring Tour Residency 2006-2008
Garmisch-Partenkirchen
, Germany
The EUYO is delighted to have reached an agreement with the City of Garmisch-Partenkirchen to host the rehearsal residency and first two concerts of its Spring Tours in 2006, 2007 and 2008. All of these concerts will be conducted by the EUYO’s Music Director, Vladimir Ashkenazy. During this time, the Orchestra will explore works by various composers, including one of Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s most famous sons, Richard Strauss; the Orchestra’s repertoire will include both the symphonic tone poems and works for smaller ensembles.

The wonderful facilities of Garmisch-Partenkirchen will allow the Orchestra the time and space to create performances of a truly international standard each year. Each section will work in a different rehearsal space in the city, before tutti rehearsal in the Festsaal Werdenfels. It is wonderful that a city famous for its stunning Alpine setting, its world-class skiing and its annual Festival of Strauss’s music, should make such a long-term commitment to both the culture and youth of the European Union.

The EUYO’s period of residency in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is generously hosted by the City of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Summer Tour Residency 2007
Luxembourg, Capital of Culture 2007
The City of Luxembourg has contributed greatly to the history of the EUYO and is bound to have a great impact on its future. The EUYO's inaugural tour of 1978 brought the Orchestra to Luxembourg under the baton of Claudio Abbado and the EUYO has performed there many times since, under some of the world's most legendary conductors including Bernard Haitink, James Judd, Carlo Maria Giulini and Mstislav Rostropovich. Last summer the Orchestra returned as part of the Luxembourg European Capital of Culture celebrations, to rehearse for over two weeks with Sir Colin Davis. The Orchestra opened their rehearsals to the public, performed a chamber concert, an open-air concert in one of the Citiy's squares and a full symphony concert at the Luxembourg Conservatoire.

The EUYO's period of residency in Luxembourg was generously supported by Luxembourg 2007.

Summer Tour Residency 2007
Bolzano, Italy
The City of Bolzano in the Dolomites of Northern Italy, first welcomed the EUYO in 1982 and the relationship which the EUYO has enjoyed with the City has grown stronger ever since. Bolzano once again opened the doors of its Theatre, Conservatory and Auditorium to the EUYO last summer when the Orchestra took up residence for four days in the middle of the Summer Tour to rehearse a programme of Bruckner and Berg with Herbert Blomstedt and Leonidas Kavakos.

The EUYO's period of residency in Bolzano is generously hosted by the City of Bolzano.
