EUYO PERFORMS AT THE EUROPA NOSTRA AWARDS CEREMONY AT THE CONCERTGEBOUW

The EUYO was deeply honoured to have been invited to perform at a Gala Concert at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on Friday 10th June, to celebrate the 2011 Europa Nostra Awards, in the presence of European Commissioner for Culture Androulla Vassiliou and Europa Nostra's President, Plácido Domingo.

Together with young singers from the European Opera Centre, sixty-one orchestral musicians from across the EU performed excerpts from Liszt's only opera, Don Sanche, to a glittering audience that included Princess Margriet of the Netherlands. Orchestra members also enjoyed the rare privilege of watching the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in rehearsal that morning.

The European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards celebrate excellence in cultural heritage conservation, ranging from the restoration of buildings and their adaptation to new uses, to urban and rural landscape rehabilitation, archaeological site interpretations, and care for art collections.
