Selection procedure in the UK:
There are two rounds of auditions in the UK.
Preliminaries are held in Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Manchester. Candidates will be asked to play a prepared piece of their own choosing (eg a movement from a concerto, sonata etc) and a selection of prepared orchestral extracts. Click here to download the orchestral extracts. Percussionists will be asked to play a selection of prepared orchestral extracts only (no piece). An accompanist is provided at both preliminary and final round auditions.
Finals are held in London. The format is exactly the same as the preliminary round.
Members of the EUYO and Leverhulme Summer School and those on the reserve list during the last two years automatically qualify for the final round but an application form must still have been submitted before the closing date.
