Founded in 1952, the “Münchner Rundfunkorchester” has developed over the course
of its 57-year history into an ensemble with an enormously wide-ranging artistic
spectrum, and, because of this very versatility, placed itself in a unique position in
Munich’s orchestra landscape. The Münchner Rundfunkorchester devotes a good
deal of time to its work with children and young people, constructed on a three-
pillared model with continuing education programs for teachers and school visits
followed by concert events. “Klassik zum Staunen” – “Classics to Amaze you”: this is
the name of the Münchner Rundfunkorchester’s concert and educational program
especially designed for children and young people. Within these young people’s
concerts the Münchner Rundfunkorchester is planning a concert entitled “Stars of
Tomorrow” with four or five young soloists of the European Union Youth Orchestra.
These concert series opens new possibilities of promotion and support of young
